Judy Niemeyer Wedding Rings

Our brains are about to burst! Garnet and Teri spent three days with Judy Niemeyer, learning her techniques for speeding up paper foundation piecing. Judy had lots of samples for us to drool over, and even showed us how she chooses fabrics for her quilts.

EPP Addiction part 2

As our excited teachers and club members gathered together for our monthly EPP addiction club, Marty shows one of the newest EPP shapes, the Dresden Heart.  Marty's version is in red and white for Valentine's Day, alternating darks and lights, and features yo-yo's in the center.

Marlene Sowatzke is laying out her Lucy Boston block (Patchwork of the Crosses), while Donna Nigh shows off the progress she's making on her Just Judy quilt (front cover of English Paper Piecing book by Vicki Bellino).

We have two club members from Louisville!  Michelle Hellman was inspired by Vicki Bellino's PentaRings for Baby, and created her own wonderful version!  Using pink and cream backgrounds, she collected Moda fabrics from Blackbird Designs and placed her PentaRings on point.  She also has six pointed stars (diamond paper pieces) on a black background for her show and tell.

Her mom, Barbara Rettig, is working on a beautiful quilt from Sue Daley's book New English Paper Piecing called Wellington.  She's fussy cut the jewel shapes, and inset diamonds into the inner corners.

Send pictures of your latest EPP projects and you can join in with us as we share our addiction!

EPP Addiction, Jan 2013

Be sure to clock on each picture for the complete view!  It's a new year for English Paper Piecing, and we're all addicted!  Our EPP addiction group met this week and the show and tells were stunning!  Neppie welcomed everyone and showed them what we've been working on.

Mary showed a needle case from the Moda candy project book, and Gladys Allen is making great progress on her Patchwork of the Crosses/Lucy Boston quilt.

Marilyn Cullen made a small Apple Core quilt using leftovers from her daughter's wedding dress. Donna Spain is ready for any trip with stacked trays. She has the bottom tray with cut fabric, the middle tray with glued pieces, and the top tray with supplies for EPP.

Bobbie Mitschelen is working on a project that's a combination of embroidery and EPP, and her puppy is working on her thread collection! The wad of red thread that she's holding is what's left of her beautiful bobbin of 60 weight 2 ply Superior brand Bottom Line polyester thread.

Robyn Brown can't wait to get her cupcake candle mat completed. Made of 1-1/2" hexies, the project can be tailored to be the perfect size for the fabric you choose (click on the picture to see her project!)  Barb Scheib is working on hexie projects in several sizes, in dramatic reds and blacks.
