We are so pleased to have Fran Sargent teaching at the shop this weekend!  Fran is from Goodlettsville, TN, and owns the shop Quilter's Attic.  She's a Judy Niemeyer certified teacher, and has made Judy's techniques really understandable for a whole class full of quilters!  Each little tip or hint is worth the price of admission!

Linda finished her Baby Pentarings quilt, and Marilyn quilted it beautifully!  We used the Marcus fabric that's printed in 3" squares for the rings, and we love the way it turned out.  We're definitely hooked around here!

The Star quilt below was pieced by Marilyn, and it will be framed like the picture in the book.

Back Door Quilts was featured on Vick Bellino's blog!  http://bloomcreek.blogspot.com/  Check us out, and the rest of Vicki's posts while you're there!

And we have a winner!

We have chosen a random winner from the comments made on our Batik post of March 12.  Sharon H (post #5), send us your mailing address and we'll send you a group of batik fat quarters!  Send to teribackdoor@indy.rr.com

LOVE red fabrics!

We've picked a quilt out from the English Paper Piecing book using Jo's Variety fabrics.  It will be twin size, perfect for a dorm or guest bed, or for a sofa throw.
Have you ever seen our signature fabric?  We fell in love with this Kansas Troubles fabric from Moda a few years ago, and purchased an entire printing.  We've used it for block of the month borders, First Saturday quilts, quilt backs, and more.  It's got great colors, and best of all, it turned out to be a good investment!  With the price of cotton fabric reaching and exceeding $11-12 a yard, this fabric is just $9.75!  Give us a call if you want some for your current projects.

English Paper Piecing

It's here!  Our friend Vicki Bellino's book on English Paper Piecing has arrived, and it's wonderful!  This Saturday, March 17, from 10-3, Linda will be demonstrating her tricks for making EPP quick and easy.

Pictures from top to botton:  We couldn't settle on just one project, so we've started several!  Linda is giving some of our girls tips on how she's made the Baby Pentagons in the book.

One of the best parts about English Paper Piecing is how portable it is--and you can look for adorable tins and boxes to carry your pieces around!

These blocks are made with 5/8" hexagons.

The Baby Pentagons are going to be made with reproduction fabrics, mostly Jo Mortons.

Just Spooling Around

Terri Degenkolb is the very talented force behind whimsicals fabrics and books.  We have her newest, Just Spooling Around, as well as the fabric she used, Heart Strings from Red Rooster.  Heartstrings has a soft taupe, rose, and teal palette with hints of modern design.  We have some of the quilts from the new book--check us out at the shows this spring if you live far away!

Batik Heaven

We get new batiks every week, and we thought you'd like to see what our batik shelves look like right now!  They are packed, and there's even an entire section of light batiks, which are hard to find!

We love batiks for their rich colors and designs, and how well they blend together.  Feel free to mix them with other fabrics, too, like Edyta Sitar does.

Comment below and tell us what your most recent batik project was (or what you hope your next batik project will be) and win a packet of batik fat quarters!
